In partnership with the Jaafaria College, Athar Center was founded in Tyre in 2021 by an artist and archivist driven by their interest in preserving and narrating the local history of Tyre. The college's unique archive of photos and documents represented a great incentive to start this initiative.

In addition to the two founding members, the Athar team is composed of freelance experts in documentation, digitization, editing, and translation.

Establishing the center was made possible with the generous support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation who provided us with the funds needed to acquire preservation and digitization equipment, train staff members in preservation and digitization techniques, accomplish the cataloging, and translate the content of the website from Arabic to English.

This website was made possible with the support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), as part of a project of the AGYA Working Group ‘Common Heritage and Common Challenges’.

AGYA is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Germany.

نبذة عن "مركز أثر

بالتعاون مع الكلّية الجعفرية، تأسّس "مركز أثر" على يد فنانة بصرية وأخصائية أرشيف في 2021، بدافع من اهتمامهما بتاريخ المدينة وأهلها. وبالإضافة إلى مؤسستيّ "مركز أثر" يضمّ فريق عملنا عدّة أخصائيين في مجالات التوثيق والرقمنة والتحرير والترجمة، ويُستعان بهم بحسب الحاجة.

وقد حظينا على دعم سخيّ من مؤسّسة غيردا هِنكل التي زوّدتنا بالمعدات الخاصة لعملية الحفظ ومن ثم الرقمنة، وأتاحت لنا تدريب طاقم العمل على تقنيات الحفظ والرقمنة هذين، كما أنها موّلت تجميع البيانات الوصفيّة وترجمة محتوى هذا الموقع من العربية إلى الإنكليزية.

وهذا الموقع الإلكتروني أُنشىء أيضاً بدعم من مؤسّسة غيردا هِنكل ومن الأكاديمية العربية الألمانية للباحثين الشباب في العلوم والإنسانيات (AGYA)، التي تحظى بدعم وزارة التعليم والبحث الاتحادية الألمانية (يتحمّل مؤلفو ومحرّرو الموقع الإلكتروني حصراً مسؤولية المحتوى الوارد فيه.)
